Distinguished Individuals, NGOs, CSOs, Others Converge To Promote Peace With Entertainers In Abuja

The Drum Majors for Peace a formost advocacy organisation where creativity is harnessed to promote positive values hosted the third edition of her annually organised and internationally recognised NATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT AND PEACE SUMMIT in commemoration of the International Day of Peace, 2022, with the THEME: PEACEFUL ELECTIONS AND GOOD LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA: THE ROLE OF ENTERTAINMENT AND CREATIVE INDUSTRY.

The event which took place on Tuesday, 20th September, 2022 at Bolingo Xperia Hotel And Towers, 777, Independence Avenue Garki Abuja Nigeria featured: Drum Majors For Peace standard Assembly, Keynote Speeches by top industry professionals including the Director General Institute For Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) Dr. Bakut Tswah Bakut, The

CEO Mirakon Event 24/7, Mr. Myke Bassey Okokon, The managing director of Doxas Digital Nigeria, An APC Chieftain, a Media entrepreneur and an event-profiled global Enterprise Communicator, Mrs. Adedayo Benjamins Laniyi, An Independent Conflict Transformation Strategist, Gender Specialist and Former Director, IPCR Abuja Dr. Dayo Oluyemi - KUSA, The CEO, UPLAND REALTORS Dr. Dan Akpaida, The President, FGM Group, Olorogun Francis D. The event also featured Panel Sessions, Exhibitions, Fireside Chat with Mentors, & amazing others.

The creative industry gathered to contribute their quota in the promotion of peace before, during and after the forthcoming general elections especially now that the country is faced with all forms of challenges ranging from insecurity, kidnapping and all forms of agitation that suggests disintegration.

Briefing news men, the Executive Director of the organisation Amb. Nsikan Paul explains that the Objectives of the Summit

is to strengthen the ideals of peace by galvanizing support for promotion of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG: 16) (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions)

To promote unity, social cohesion and creative empowerment, especially now that the country is battling with issues ranging from unemployment, insecurity, religious intolerance, and all forms of agitations that suggest disintegration. 

To promote open-mindedness for acceptance of the difference among gender, race, and territories.

The Summit brought together entertainers, stakeholders, youth groups, thought leaders, religious leaders, businessmen, artisans, government agencies and civil society organizations to use the instrumentality of entertainment and creative industry to drum the message of peace, reconciliation, tolerance and social cohesion in our fragile social fabric.
