Hours after fire gutted its embassy, Canada High Commission reportedly issues travel advisory as it suspends operations in Nigeria

The Canadian High Commission in Abuja has suspended its operations after a fire incident occurred at the commission on Monday, November 6.  The fire broke out in the generator room in the commission’s office killing two persons.

The embassy also issued a travel advisory to its citizens, warning against non-essential travels to Nigeria including Abuja. The embassy hinged its advice on ‘’unpredictable situation throughout the country and the significant risk of terrorism, crime, inter-communal clashes, armed attacks and kidnappings”.
