JUST IN : Senate confirms Ifeanyi Ubah’s death
The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South.
Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu announced Ubah’s passing on Saturday, but did not provide details on the cause.
A source mentioned that Ubah had travelled to the United Kingdom for surgery, though this information remains unverified as of this report.
Ubah, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the time of his death, was 53 years old. He was well-known as the CEO of Capital Oil.
Elected to the Senate under the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in 2019, Ubah secured re-election in 2023 with the same party before switching to the APC a few months ago.
In September 2022, Ubah narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when his convoy was attacked by gunmen en route to Nnewi in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State.
The attack claimed the lives of at least five people, including two policemen, but Ubah survived thanks to his bulletproof vehicle.
