Woman d!es after jumping from Third Mainland Bridge into Lagos lagoon

An unidentified woman lost her life after reportedly jumping from the Third Mainland Bridge into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront, according to an intelligence source.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday, as reported by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who cited intelligence sources familiar with the case.
“We received information that a woman suddenly stopped on the bridge and jumped into the water. No identification documents were found on her,” the source disclosed.
The Marine Police Division in Akoka was notified about an hour later, prompting officers to launch a rescue operation.
“She was pulled out of the water and rushed to the UNILAG shore, where medical personnel examined her. Unfortunately, she was confirmed dead,” the source added.
The woman’s body has been transferred to the morgue at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Yaba for autopsy and preservation.
Meanwhile, another police source confirmed that the Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation to determine the woman’s identity and understand the events leading up to the tragedy.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we urge anyone with information about the deceased to come forward,” the source said.
