Woman slumps, dies during Ramadan Tafsir in Abuja

A 42-year-old woman, Maman Zainab, passed away after collapsing during a Ramadan tafsir session at a mosque in Gawu, Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A local resident, Ismail Bala, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, explaining that it occurred on Tuesday at 11:23 a.m. while Zainab was attending the religious gathering with other women.
Bala shared that Zainab had left home in good health, accompanied by three neighbors, to participate in the session. However, during the tafsir, she told one of the women that she was feeling dizzy and had a severe headache.
“She was about to stand up and leave the mosque when she collapsed,” Bala recounted.
The women present acted quickly, rushing her to a hospital in Gawu Babangida, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
“The woman joined her neighbours to attend a Ramadan Tafseer just opposite her house when she collapsed inside the mosque and was taken to hospital at Gawu Babangida. Unfortunately, she gave up upon arriving at the hospital,” Bala said.
A doctor at the hospital determined that she died due to high blood pressure.
Her body was later laid to rest in line with Islamic burial traditions, Bala added.
